Another Windy Day

I love to experiment with different things in photography. I saw this beautiful patch of flowers in a garden and instead of just taking a regular snapshot, I went in a different direction. I decided to spin my camera in a way created a lot of blur, but also allowed for distinguishable elements in the photo. You can see the leaves, grass and purple flowers but I let the camera play with the rest of the photo. My favorite part about this shot is the way the light shines on the garden making the colors of the flowers just burst.

The Collector

It was late at night in the island of Key West. I was walking along Duval Street when I passed by a lady who had something unique to herself. She had bike but not just any bike, a bike with at least fifty key chains of varied objects. As I walked by her on the sidewalk, I quickly raised my camera, focused and got the shot. She was actually cleaning her bike at the time which helped minimize blur and movement, but it also gave little gleams of light on the shiny metal objects on her bike. While I am not who her does a whole lot of street photography, I definitely like to experiment with it. In my post-processing, I applied black & white rendering and worked quite awhile with the tones, highlights and shadows to give the right mood and ambiance to the image.

Bamboo Forest

In a beautiful Japanese garden in Florida, I found this amazing bamboo forest. I wanted to get some very unique angles on the bamboo trees right after it had just stopped raining. I laid myself on the ground with my poncho on, set up my tripod, and lowered my camera as close to the ground as possible to get this angle of the trees.

In Lightroom I wanted to give a cinematic look to the photo, so I gave it a wider crop and applied some warmer tones and magenta temperature to the image. Overall I love this photo because the eye climbs up the trees, into the canopy and explores the rest of the image.

The Eiffel Tower’s Breathtaking View

This shot was captured with my old Nikon D40 from atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I was very excited when I took this shot and finally got to edit years later. Applying my knowledge of editing in Lightroom, I used cross-processing presets, adjusted much of temperature, colors and tones, and used the golden ratio while cropping.

Carnival Ride

While visiting the Charlotte area, I discovered there was a carnival going on that weekend and couldn’t resist taking my Leica X1 to photograph up there. This is one my favorite shots from the carnival. I have edited it over and over again trying to find the right look for it but haven’t been completely satisfied. I tried several different color, b&w, and sepia versions and thought they were ok but not really great. About a weeks ago I got a brand new B&W program called Tonality Pro by Macphun Software the day it came out. And let me tell you I am very impressed. The way this software renders your image through its collection of presets is just incredible. It is very powerful and gives complete control over your editing process. This was the first photo I ran through the program and I look forward to editing many more with this software!
