³ Reflections of…

This was a really fun shot to get. I am always on the look out for reflections and while walking around the city of Charlotte one day, I saw this really awesome reflection on a building. I had my new Sony A7r with me as well as a Voightlander 35mm f/1.2 lens. The reflection of the building across the street was really tall so I had to get down low to be able to fit the entire reflection in the frame. In my post-processing in Lightroom, I applied some HDR effects to add drama to the building and the sky.

Lion in a Carousel

This was actually a pretty difficult shot to get. The carousel ride was in a small, round building with a ton of people walking around and photographing their children on the ride. I was trying to find a really unique looking animal ride to photograph when I saw a lion coming around towards me. I wanted to get a really unique angle on it so I turned my camera a bit and filled most of the frame with the lion. I also had my camera blur out the background which was a bunch of paintings on the carousel to get some really cool and colorful bokeh.

Graffiti in Miami

My family had only been driving for about 2 minutes (after we left our hotel on Ocean Blvd in South Beach) to head home when my dad and I saw this really cool alley way completely filled with graffiti. We jumped out of the car while my mom continued driving. The graffiti was really impressive with all kinds of fish, mermaids and sharks. We probably spent 20 minutes covering the entire alley and photographing the walls. This shot I processed in Lightroom and DxO Filmpack and gave it a harsh B&W contrast to go with the menacing fish look.

Glowing in the Night

I was walking late at night with my dad looking for nice restaurant to eat when I saw this really cool street clock on the sidewalk. The clock itself had a golden look to it with its light illuminating the area. I knelt down and pointed my Leica X1 up towards the sky to give the clock a unique perspective. In my post processing, I gave the image a bit of an ominous “midnight” effect by having dark blue sky behind the glowing clock and silhouetting the buildings on the street.

Tree of Wisdom

On my way out of the garden, I saw this huge tree sitting up on the hill I was climbing. The sky was perfect because it was partly cloudy and light was penetrating through only some of the leaves and branches of the tree. I knew this would be a pretty cool shot when I got home. In my post-processing I warmed of some of the tones and temperature and gave a little majestic feel to the photo in Lightroom.
